BMW & MINI Key Battery Replacement

Many modern BMW and MINI keys have a battery which can be replaced.  If you are anxious about replacing the battery yourself, we will be more than happy to help - just call ahead of visiting and we'll accomodate you.

Older keys including the "diamond" keys with a blade, like this one pictured from a 2002 BMW E46, are sealed and have to be split apart.   The rechargeable battery is soldered to the PCB board and the case bonded back together.  The same applies to the rectangular keys used on most E-Series BMW which are inserted into a slot in the dashboard. The repair takes approximately 30-minutes to perform.

Replacement keys from MINI and BMW dealers cost in excess of £180.  Prices for this repair start from £40 and the battery is guaranteed for 12-months.
